Last night we held a Passover Seder at the JC. It was kind of different than the Seder I attended at BYU with Chris this spring. They left out some of my favorite parts: the loud singing and games and bargaining for the Aphikomen. But it was a lot of fun.
I love the Passover Seder. I love the rituals and all of the symbolism in it. Drinking the wine/grape juice and eating the matzah is so symbolic of Christ and the sacrament. The Seder dinner in a way served as a prepartory tradition for the sacrament.
The Last Supper was a Passover Seder. At the end of the meal after eating the main course and dessert, they last thing eaten before the Seder is over is eating the matzah which was covered and hidden throughout the whole meal, and drinking the last cup of wine. During the Last Supper, as the Apostles were partaking of these, this is when Christ said that the wine and matzah were in similtude of Him.
